Our Commitment to Humane Care
The Animal Care Shelter for Kent County is proud to be a No-Kill shelter as designated by Best Friends Animal Society. “No-Kill” does not mean that every animal can be safely placed for adoption or that euthanasia is never considered. Rather, it means that ACSKC is committed to saving all healthy and treatable animals whenever safely possible.
As an open-admission shelter, ACSKC accepts animals with a wide range of medical and behavioral needs. Every animal is evaluated individually, and decisions regarding care, placement, behavioral support, rescue transfer, or humane euthanasia are made with careful consideration for the safety and well-being of the animal, shelter staff, volunteers, adopters, other animals, and the community.
Providing complete and accurate behavioral and medical information during the surrender process helps our team make informed decisions and provide the most appropriate care possible.
Need to Move Forward With a Surrender Request?
